As Senior Impact Officer, you’ll lead BBC Children in Need’s grant-making and management across the South East, making sure our funding is responsive to local need and delivers the best possible outcomes for children and young people facing challenges in their lives. You’ll lead a small team, championing a culture of trust, transparency and learning, while working with colleagues to continuously improve how we assess, award and manage grants.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As Senior Impact Officer, you’ll lead BBC Children in Need’s grant-making and management across the South East, making sure our funding is responsive to local need and delivers the best possible outcomes for children and young people facing challenges in their lives. You’ll lead a small team, championing a culture of trust, transparency and learning, while working with colleagues to continuously improve how we assess, award and manage grants.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Deliver best-practice grant-making and grant management across the South East, ensuring funding achieves the strongest possible outcomes for children and young people facing challenges.
  • Work as part of a UK-wide peer group to drive continuous improvement in our grant-making approach and end-to-end grant management.
  • Ensure all activity aligns to the South East team’s local funding priorities, responding to local need and emerging insights.
  • Lead, coordinate and support South East team planning and contributions in the run-up to the BBC Children in Need Appeal each November.
  • Provide inclusive, effective leadership to a small team; building trust, transparency and continuous learning through clear direction, coaching and feedback.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships across the children and young people’s and grant-making sectors to increase the reach and local impact of BBC Children in Need.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Demonstrable experience of grant-making and/or grant management.
  • Proven experience working with voluntary and/or community sector organisations.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships across multiple teams.
  • Experience of creating high performing teams, including motivating and supporting others through coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Experience of facilitating panels and/or committees to support robust grant-making decisions.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience working within the UK children and young people’s sector.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software, including the ability to use grant-making and grant-management database systems.
  • Experience presenting to a range of audiences.

Location: London, GBR, W1A 1AA | Southampton, GBR, S01 0XR

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £35,000 - £42,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
