We are supporting a major infrastructure client in the appointment of an experienced Contract Electrical Engineering Lead to take technical ownership of a critical electrical cabling and associated systems scope on a large, complex engineering programme. This is a senior technical coordination role, acting as the primary interface between the client organisation, suppliers, and internal engineering teams, ensuring electrical designs, documentation, and deliveries are compliant, coordinated, and delivered to programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical focal point for all matters related to the assigned electrical and cabling contract.
- Provide technical support to the client organisation in the resolution of electrical engineering issues.
- Manage the technical performance of suppliers, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards, scope, and schedule.
- Review and coordinate supplier technical documentation, consolidating multidisciplinary inputs and issuing formal technical comments.
- Prepare and manage technical comment sheets and lead clarification discussions with suppliers where required.
- Manage contract modifications and technical changes, including impact assessment and formal change documentation.
- Own and track technical risks, open points, non-conformities, and opportunities associated with the contract scope.
- Coordinate interfaces with multiple engineering disciplines, providing input data and consuming detailed design outputs.
- Support qualification and verification activities where required.
- Monitor technical readiness and follow up on delivery milestones for equipment and materials to the site.
Required Experience & Skills
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s level).
- Strong background in electrical cabling systems, electrical equipment, and cabinets.
- Proven experience reviewing and/or producing electrical design and installation documentation.
- Experience working on complex, regulated or safety-critical projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Confident in managing technical interfaces between client, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
- Solid working knowledge of relevant electrical standards (e.g. RCC-E, BS 7671, IEC standards).
- Comfortable working independently while coordinating inputs from multiple contributors.
Desirable:
- Experience in design assurance, licensing, or equipment qualification.
- Background in large infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects.
Working Arrangements
- Bristol-based role with a minimum of 3 days per week on site.
- Limited travel; occasional travel may be required during initial onboarding.
- Long-term contract opportunity with potential extension.
