We are supporting the delivery of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes — a multi-billion-pound nuclear new build project of national importance. As part of the Integrated Project Controls function, the Cost & Forecasting team provides the single source of truth for financial performance, ensuring accurate cost visibility and robust forecasting across complex delivery areas. This is a key opportunity for a Cost Engineer to contribute to high-profile project performance in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.
The Role
As a Cost Engineer, you will support cost management and forecasting activities across a defined programme area, working alongside Senior Cost Engineers and the wider Project Controls team to ensure cost data, forecasting information and performance insights are accurate, timely and aligned to governance standards. You will play a vital role in maintaining financial control, supporting change management processes and providing meaningful reporting to support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate cost and forecast data aligned to approved WBS/CBS structures.
- Support monthly cost reporting cycles, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Analyse cost performance and identify key trends, risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to change and trend management processes.
- Support earned value analysis and performance measurement activities.
- Provide analytical insight to Senior Cost Engineers and project leadership.
- Ensure compliance with project controls governance and data assurance standards.
- Collaborate with planning, risk, commercial and finance teams to maintain integrated performance reporting.
- Promote a strong culture of governance, compliance and data integrity.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working within a project controls or cost engineering function.
- Exposure to cost reporting and forecasting within a project environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
- Ability to interpret technical and financial data and translate it into clear insight.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Experience on major infrastructure or construction projects.
- Experience within nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
- Understanding of earned value management (EVM).
- HND or equivalent qualification in project controls, engineering or related discipline.
Technical Skills

- SAP or similar financial systems.
- Power BI or data visualisation platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel.
