ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Fire & Security Engineer, you will form a key member of the fire and security installation team, responsible for projects including new installation works on Fire Detection Systems, CCTV, Access Control and Security Systems equipment.
We are particularly interested in candidates with proven experience in the installation, commissioning and fault-finding of integrated security systems, including CCTV, Access Control and Intruder Alarm systems across commercial and industrial environments.
You will be reporting directly to the Project Manager, working with teams of Engineers, communicating with the client/customer, coordinating works onsite, ordering materials and plant through your project manager and ensuring installations are completed to company, client and industry standards.
You must demonstrate a knowledge of Security System British/EN Standards and knowledge of NSI and BAFE standards.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Installation, testing and commissioning: Fire Detection & Alarm Systems, Intruder Alarms, IP Surveillance (CCTV), Access Control Systems and related network cabling infrastructure, in accordance with electrical layouts, building plans, BAFE & NSI requirements and relevant British Standards, Codes of Practice and company policies.
- Quality Installation: Providing a quality installation in the most methodical and efficient manner, including reading, understanding, completing and working in line with detailed scopes of work (worksheets), working drawings, cable schedules, schematics, programmes of work and client expectations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete accurate job sheets, risk assessments, method statements, and system documentation. Production of high-quality commissioning and handover documentation and as fit drawings.
- Client Communication: Act as a professional point of contact, providing clear updates and ensuring client satisfaction. Client training and demonstration of systems to explain the systems working and functionality.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work meets industry standards, legislation, and ACEDA’s safety and quality requirements.
- Stock & Resource Management: Manage materials, tools, and equipment.
- Team Support: Assist colleagues, share technical knowledge, and contribute to continuous improvement across the department.
