ace is a post-digital advisory firm. We work with senior leaders across financial services and technology to help them move beyond incremental digital transformation and toward genuine structural advantage. Our work sits across strategy, operating model, innovation, technology, AI, resilience, and large-scale change. We combine rigorous advisory thinking with sharp commercial instincts and a strong point of view on where the market is going next.

We are looking for a Quantum Computing Intern to join ace for an initial 3-month period, with the possibility of extension. This role is for someone with a strong interest in quantum computing and emerging technologies, and a solid technical academic background, ideally in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline.

You will support ace in strengthening its quantum computing research, market positioning, thought leadership, and commercial proposition, with a particular focus on relevance to financial services. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of deep technology, strategic research, and client-facing advisory in a fast-moving business environment.

What you will do:

  • Conduct research on quantum computing developments, vendors, tooling, and market activity.
  • Track the implications of quantum computing for financial services, including areas such as optimisation, risk, portfolio construction, cryptography, and long-term operating model impact.
  • Support the development of ace’s quantum computing proposition, helping translate technical concepts into commercially credible client material.
  • Produce high-quality written content, including research briefs, presentation materials, draft articles, market commentary, and internal knowledge assets.
  • Help identify where quantum intersects with broader post-digital themes, including AI, cyber resilience, infrastructure, and next-generation financial services architecture.
  • Contribute to external thought leadership and marketing materials where relevant.
  • Support ad hoc strategic research across client opportunities and proposition development.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate or recent graduate in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
  • Strong interest in quantum computing, with evidence of academic, project, or personal engagement in the topic.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and explain them clearly to a non-specialist but commercially minded audience.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Interest in the application of emerging technology to financial services.
  • Curious, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • High standards of accuracy, structure, and professionalism.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with quantum concepts such as qubits, superposition, entanglement, quantum optimisation, or post-quantum cryptography.
  • Exposure to Python, Qiskit, or related technical tooling.
  • Interest in capital markets, banking, asset management, or financial market infrastructure.
  • Experience producing presentations, research papers, or technical content.

Why this role is interesting:

This is not a generic internship. You will be contributing to how a growing advisory firm develops its point of view and commercial positioning on one of the most important emerging technology themes. For the right person, it is a chance to build real experience across research, strategy, content, and proposition development in a live business context.
