Stores Lead £25- £30 Per Hour Outside IR35 (Depending on Experience) Flexible Hours (Monday – Friday 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week) Manchester Area

We are looking for a Temporary position for a Stores Lead at a well-known foods/drinks manufacturer. With ambitious development plans well underway, we are enhancing our site capability, strengthening our supply chain, and further improving our dairy offering.

As Stores Lead, you will play a key role in supporting both the Maintenance team and the wider operation. You will take full ownership of the day-to-day running of the engineering stores, ensuring materials, parts and equipment are always available and controlled effectively. This is a unique opportunity to help shape and influence the setup of a brand-new stores operation from the very beginning, contributing to the creation of high standards and best-practice processes.

  • Ordering & Supplier Management: Liaise with suppliers and order engineering parts/spares as required, working alongside Rubix. Identify opportunities to improve supply reliability and optimise costs.
  • Process, Systems & Compliance: Implement and continuously improve efficient systems for stock control and materials management. Ensure all stores activities align with Müller and regulatory standards. Support the use, optimisation, and administration of Kardex storage systems (experience advantageous). Complete all required documentation and compliance records accurately.
  • Stores Workplace Organisation & Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in the Stores 5S programme, maintaining a safe, organised, and audit-ready working environment. Attend and support the Site Stores Steering Group, working collaboratively on improvement activities and long-term development of the stores function. Introduce and champion new ideas to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service to the maintenance and operations teams.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect incoming deliveries to confirm they meet specifications, are free from damage, and are correctly documented.
  • General Responsibilities: Maintain high standards of housekeeping, accuracy, and professionalism within the stores. Flexibly support engineering and operational teams during planned and unplanned events. Operate material-handling equipment where required (FLT licence advantageous).

Our Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a stores or materials management role within a manufacturing environment (essential).
  • Strong technical or engineering understanding (essential).
  • Experience with automated or semi-automated storage systems such as Kardex (advantageous).
  • FLT licence or willingness to train (advantageous).
  • A flexible approach and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative.
  • High personal standards and pride in building a best-in-class stores operation from the ground up.
  • IT computer skills – Essential.
