We are recruiting an Academic Learning Mentor to support learners at a Further Education college in Wolverhampton. This role focuses on academic mentoring, classroom support and learner engagement, supporting students aged 16–19 and adult learners to progress and succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group academic support in Maths, English and/or IT
- Support learners with study skills, organisation and engagement
- Assist teaching staff during lessons and learning activities
- Support students with SEN, SEMH, EAL or wellbeing needs
- Track learner progress and contribute to reviews and support plans
- Promote positive behaviour, confidence and resilience
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
- Experience supporting learners in a school or FE setting
- Strong communication, empathy and relationship-building skills
- Calm, proactive and student-focused approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider college team
