We are recruiting an experienced Automotive Lecturer to join a respected Further Education college in the West Midlands. This role is ideal for passionate automotive professionals with strong industry experience who are ready to transition into teaching, or experienced lecturers looking for a fresh opportunity.

You will deliver and assess high-quality vocational programmes in Automotive / Motor Vehicle, supporting learners to gain practical skills and industry qualifications, including IMI and City & Guilds pathways. You’ll work with students at Levels 1–3 to develop real-world technical competence and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging theory and practical automotive/motor vehicle teaching in workshop and classroom environments
  • Plan, prepare and assess learning programmes from Level 1 to Level 3 and beyond
  • Develop and maintain teaching resources, schemes of work and assessment plans
  • Monitor and record learner progress, providing constructive feedback and support
  • Ensure compliance with awarding body standards and college quality requirements
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement activities
  • Liaise with employers and industry partners to support work placements and learner progression
  • Maintain workshop safety and ensure equipment, tools and resources are fit for purpose

Skills & Experience

  • Strong professional background in automotive / motor vehicle maintenance, repair and diagnostics
  • Experience delivering vocational training or teaching in an education environment (FE experience preferred but not essential if industry experience is strong)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage, motivate and assess a diverse range of learners
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively within a department
  • Enhanced DBS clearance required (or willingness to obtain)

Qualifications

  • Relevant automotive qualification (e.g., IMI, City & Guilds or equivalent vocational qualification)
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training) desirable or willingness to work towards
  • English and Maths qualifications (GCSE Level 2 or equivalent)
