Role Description
The Electrical Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Sheffield Area.
The role involves designing, reviewing, and maintaining electrical systems for cranes and hoists, including power distribution and control systems.
Day-to-day tasks include conducting electrical calculations, preparing technical documentation, supporting LOLER examinations from an electrical perspective, and participating in maintenance and upgrade projects.
The Electrical Engineer will collaborate with mechanical engineers, technicians, and project managers to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of lifting equipment.
The role also includes troubleshooting electrical issues on installed systems, providing technical input for new crane and hoist sales, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, with practical knowledge of Electricity and its application to industrial equipment.
- Proficiency in Electrical Design for cranes, hoists, or similar industrial machinery.
- Electrical apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Familiarity with relevant UK standards, regulations, and safety practices (e. g., LOLER, PUWER, BS EN standards).
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical reports.
- Hands-on experience with fault finding, diagnostics, and commissioning of electrical control panels.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to work across customer sites within the Greater Sheffield Area and beyond, as needed.
