This is a hands-on, senior assistant manager position within a modern, high-performing poultry operation. You’ll be the right hand to the Farm Manager, with real responsibility for bird welfare, production performance, people management, and compliance. This is not a stepping-stone admin role. You’ll be on the ground, in the sheds, managing stock, leading teams, and ensuring the unit performs commercially, ethically, and compliantly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of poultry units, ensuring exceptional bird welfare at all times
  • Deputising for the Farm Manager and supporting site leadership and decision-making
  • Monitoring flock performance: FCR, mortality, growth rates, uniformity, and health
  • Implementing and maintaining biosecurity, welfare, and assurance standards (Red Tractor, RSPCA, retailer codes)
  • Managing and motivating farm teams, including rotas, training, and performance
  • Liaising with vets, nutritionists, hatcheries, and live operations teams
  • Ensuring full compliance with H&S, animal welfare legislation, and company SOPs
  • Accurate record keeping and reporting on flock data and KPIs

About You

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Farm Manager, Senior Stockperson, or Unit Manager within poultry (broilers, layers, or breeders)
  • Strong understanding of commercial poultry production and welfare-led farming
  • Confident leading people and taking responsibility in the Farm Manager’s absence
  • Practical, resilient, and comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced farm environment
  • Competent with farm management systems, data recording, and performance metrics
  • Full UK driving licence

What’s on Offer

  • A genuine senior role with scope to step up into Farm Manager responsibilities
  • Long-term career development within a well-invested, professionally run poultry business
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and support from a wider agricultural operations team
  • The chance to work in a business that takes welfare, compliance, and performance seriously
