We have a vacancy within our Engineering department and are currently recruiting for a Project Lead. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and join a growing organisation.
Shift Pattern: 39 hours each week, 07:30 - 16:30 Monday to Friday, and 07:30 - 12:30 on a Friday, with designated breaks.
Location: Accrofab Alcester, B49 6EH
Operational Control:
- Support the “internal customer” (Manufacturing Manager) by sharing agreed objectives on EHS, Quality, Cost and Delivery and participating in the Operational Control model.
- Contribute to the delivery of the EHS Model, by leading in Job Safety Observations.
- Understand the process constraints and operating rules of the value stream covered in the NPDI role and lead problem-solving exercises to improve flow where relevant.
- Ensure the teams capabilities to be able to support all potential NPDI needs, for example, organising training for team members willing to develop their abilities.
- Ensure that a motivational approach is provided to all team members, ensuring that the working environment is satisfactory and allows every team member to effectively perform their role.
- Ensure that all team members have opportunities to effectively contribute, and that their contribution is valued and constructively critiqued toward their development.
Compliance and New Product Introduction & Development (NPDI):
- Implement and/or project manage the NPDI process through the defined gated process, providing detailed and clear plans on achieving customer requirements.
- Control the standard of manufacturing documentation such as set-up packs, stage drawings, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), etc.
- Take accountability for the relevant milestones in the NPDI gated process and fulfilling all engineering tasks defined in that process (e.g., prepare cost estimates, producing stage drawings, creating manufacturing routes, gaining customer approval, etc.).
- Plan & act to deliver the NPDI milestones under the scope of the role on time, within budget, and complying with customer specifications.
- Ensure that all necessary tooling required to support a safe, robust and efficient manufacturing process is designed, manufactured and available to support relevant milestones.
- Use relevant Engineering software to create and validate CNC output which meets cycle time and quality requirements.
- Effectively delegate actions to team members, clearly defining the required outcome to be achieved in accordance with the company’s procedures.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience of working to Aerospace and/or manufacturing standards (desirable not essential).
- Preferably 2-3 years experience in a similar role.
- Has a keen eye for detail.
- Demonstrates good teamwork, but should also be capable of working individually.
- Is self-driven with a positive outlook.
- Has good communication skills.
Job-specific IT systems: Microsoft Excel & Projects, ERP systems (desirable).
Technical Competence:
- Demonstrates strong technical ability to add value to the subject matter.
- Able to offer alternative technical solutions without compromising delivery of the project/s.
- Demonstrates sound technical knowledge across multiple manufacturing processes.
- Able to anticipate technical issues whilst scoping out the project and identifying risks.
