We have a vacancy within our Manufacturing Department and are currently recruiting for the role of Sheet Metal Worker. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and join a growing Organisation.
Shift Pattern: 39 hours each week with a flexible starting time between 07:00 and 08:00 Monday to Friday, with a flexible finish time between 16:00 and 17:00 Monday to Thursday, and on a Friday, a finish time of 12:00. You will be entitled to a 30-minute unpaid lunch break between 12:00 and 12:30 Monday to Thursday. Additionally, you will have a 10-minute paid break each morning Monday to Friday and a 10-minute paid break each afternoon Monday to Thursday.
Role Accountabilities:
- Manufacture of Sheet metal components in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Ability to read and understand data cards and drawings to the level required for machine set up and operation.
- Set up machines with the required work holding and tooling in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Complete Sheet Metal operations efficiently in accordance with Job Card instructions to achieve the required output levels.
Key activities:
- Skilled in the use of sheet metal machinery, measuring equipment and hand tools.
General responsibilities:
- Comply with all company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Read and understand the requirements on the Job Card for the operation to be carried out.
- Ensure that all the documentation required to carry out the operation in accordance with the Job Card is available at the point of use and at the correct revision.
- Read and understand all manufacturing instructions prior to commencing an operation, this includes Engineering Drawings, Data Cards, etc.
- Use of all measuring equipment as required to check conformance to requirements.
- Carry out in process inspection in accordance with relevant specifications to ensure that components are conforming prior to passing on to subsequent operations.
- Ensure that components identified as non-conforming during in process inspection are identified and communicated in accordance with the Non‑Conformance Procedure.
- Complete all work booking requirements within the MRP system to ensure accurate WIP records.
- Follow work handling and storage instructions to prevent damage to components.
- Support Root Cause Analysis activities when non‑conformance occurs to prevent reoccurrence.
- Ensure that work areas are tidy, cleaned and maintained in accordance with 5S requirements.
- Engage and contribute to Continuous Improvement activities to maximise efficiency.
- Comply with all company procedures and policies.
Person Specification:
- Build good working relationships always acting as a team player.
- Maintain high attention to detail and process adherence applying a right first-time mentality.
- Be reliable and dedicated.
- Manage workload and be organised, prioritising where necessary.
- Be conscious of, and adhere to housekeeping requirements.
- Preferably 3 years’ experience in the Aerospace Industry.
- Full Apprentice trained with relevant qualifications.
- Skilled in the use of general sheet metal machinery, measuring equipment and hand tools.
- Practical experience and knowledge of working with sheet metal, riveting, spot welding, bonding, and brazing preferred.
- TIG welding experience would be advantageous.
- Experience of reading engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances.
