We have a vacancy within our Engineering Department and are currently recruiting for the role of Metrology Subject Matter Expert. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and join a growing Organisation.
Shift Pattern: 39 hours per week working the Day Shift; 07.30 to 16.30 Monday to Thursday and 07.30 to 12.30 Fridays.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Technical Knowledge
- Deep understanding of measurement science, principles, and standards (e.g., dimensional metrology, electrical, optical, etc.).
- Expertise in the use of measurement instruments and equipment (e.g., coordinate measuring machines (CMM), micrometres, spectrometers, Visual projectors, Bluelight scanning (3-dimensional scanning)).
- Knowledge of calibration techniques and procedures for ensuring the accuracy of measurement tools.
- Standards and Regulations Knowledge
- Familiarity with national and international standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, ASTM, NIST) for measurements and calibration.
- Understanding of the regulations and compliance requirements in various industries (e.g., aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical, manufacturing).
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Proficiency in using metrology-related software tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to prepare and present detailed reports on measurement results, calibration activities, and compliance with standards.
- Understanding of statistical methods such as Gage R&R, process capability analysis, and measurement system analysis (MSA).
- Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Ability to lead metrology teams and guide them in best practices.
- Competence in training junior staff on measurement techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with crossâfunctional teams and conveying technical concepts to nonâexperts.
- Project Management and Collaboration
- Experience in managing metrology projects, from planning to execution, including resource management, timelines, and budget.
- Effective communication skills to work with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure successful project completion.
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Knowledge of emerging Inspection technologies and trends; and the ability to incorporate these innovations into current practices.
