We have a vacancy within our Engineering Department and are currently recruiting for the role of Manufacturing Engineer. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and join a growing Organisation.

Shift Pattern

Day shift – 39 hours per week: 07:30 to 16:30 Monday to Thursday, and 07:30 to 12:30 on Fridays, with designated breaks.

Opportunity Summary

We currently have a vacancy within our Engineering Department for a Manufacturing Engineer focusing on special processes. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience, seeking an opportunity to join a growing Organisation.

Role Accountabilities

  • Support the “internal customer” (Manufacturing Manager) by sharing agreed objectives on EHS, Quality, Cost and Delivery and participating in the Operational Control model.
  • Participate in the Manufacturing Manager and/or Team Leader walk the floor routine and develop a stand-alone walk the floor routine.
  • Participate in the Daily Operations meeting and relevant Standard Diary meetings, taking ownership of problems assigned to the ME function for resolution.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the EHS Model, by participating in Job Safety Observations and providing technical/process solutions to EHS problems where appropriate.
  • Understand the process constraints and operating rules of the value stream covered in the ME role and participate in problem-solving exercises to improve flow where relevant.
  • Create and control (to the correct version) manufacturing documentation such as set‑up packs, stage drawings, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), etc.
  • Take accountability for any actions or milestones across any department/business function that require Manufacturing Engineering support. (e.g., NPDI, Production, Purchasing, Quality, etc.)
  • Ensure that all necessary tooling which is required to support a safe, robust and efficient manufacturing process is designed, manufactured and available to support relevant milestones.
  • Implement and/or project manage problem solutions through (but not limited to) working with external suppliers, working with customers, proving out improved technologies and programmes, completing Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities, etc.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, taking account of outcomes from audit processes and working to implement solutions where gaps are identified.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in Automotive / Aerospace & Defence / Power Gen, Medical, Nuclear, Food and Drink.
  • Multi‑axis Laser Programming is essential and EDM & Wire Programming desirable… 2‑year minimum – Laser Engineer / Programmer.
  • Key skills – Laser Programming, Engineering competence, Sheet metal and fabrication experience.
  • Solidworks (Not essential, variants are acceptable, e.g., Catia, NX).
  • Plans, organises and communicates in a timely and coherent manner.
  • Approaches problem solving by identifying the root cause and ensures suitable resolution is found and implemented.
  • Seeks opportunities to continuously improve and manages the associated change effectively.
