We currently have an opportunity for a dedicated and professional Deputy Care Home Manager to join our team at St John's. The successful candidate will be required to support the Care Home Manager with the management of the Home, with a particular emphasis on clinical/care leadership, to ensure that an excellent standard of resident care is set, delivered, and always maintained. Previous Care Home experience is essential. Applicants should hold a Level 4 qualification in Health & Social Care or working towards. This is a full time position, with 3 days allocated to Administrative duties (9am- 5pm) and 2 clinical days working with staff (7.30am - 3.30pm) you will be expected to work one day every other weekend. Please note: We do not offer sponsorship Your duties will include (but are not limited to): Day to day responsibility for the management of the care team, allocation of duties and supervision of all care staff. Communicate clearly & professionally with others and able to adapt communication style as appropriate (including but not limited to residents, families, carers and advocates, staff, managers, directors, doctors, nursing staff, hospital staff, social services) To undertake initial assessments of new residents and work in partnership with the resident, their friends / family / advocates; advising on procedures relevant to admission and any changes which may occur throughout the resident's stay. To negotiate individual care plans with residents, continually assessing and evaluating to ensure that the agreed outcomes are met. To ensure residents are always treated with dignity and respect, with independence and control over their lives being actively promoted. To pro-actively lead the team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, ensuring that risks are identified and managed and care is evidence based to meet the needs of residents. To actively supervise and monitor care practices, identifying and responding appropriately to the changing needs of residents to ensure that care needs are consistently met. To undertake all appropriate aspects of care required including advanced clinical skills as required following appropriate training. To help promote an environment conducive to the wellbeing of residents, for whom the Home is their long-term place of residence i.e. their home. To deputise for the Care Home Manager in their absence, being responsible for the fabric and running of the Home, ensuring that there are sufficient staff to carry out all duties whilst ensuring the Home continues to provide a safe and secure environment for residents and staff alike conducive to their general wellbeing. To support the Care Home Manager in the management of recruitment, retention and performance related issues, with the support of the HR department. To support the Care Home Manager in the management of budgets and resources including taking responsibility for duty rotas and skill mix requirements. To attend or chair meetings as requested and or to represent the Care Home Manager, as necessary. To be responsible for ensuring that all care staff maintain written (and electronic where appropriate) care records and Company records in accordance with record keeping standards. To ensure that all medications, including controlled drugs are ordered, stored, administered and disposed of in accordance with the Company Medicines Policy, CQC guidance on drug administration and regulated standards where appropriate (NMC etc).
