We are hiring an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex engineering and manufacturing projects within a highly regulated, technology-driven environment. The role will oversee the full project lifecycle from bid and proposal stage through to delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards. Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Quality and Commercial teams, the successful candidate will manage customer relationships, project governance, risk management, and commercial performance while driving continuous improvement across project delivery processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution and delivery of multiple engineering projects and programmes.
- Manage project schedules, resources, budgets and deliverables.
- Ensure projects are delivered against contractual milestones and customer expectations.
- Drive project governance through stage-gate reviews and structured reporting.
- Identify, manage and mitigate project risks, issues and dependencies.
- Lead change control processes and manage project scope effectively.
- Coordinate internal teams and external suppliers to achieve project objectives.
Stakeholder & Customer Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project delivery.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across technical, operational and commercial functions.
- Facilitate project reviews and communicate progress, risks and opportunities to senior leadership.
- Resolve conflicts and escalations effectively while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Develop and manage project budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor project performance against cost, schedule and quality targets.
- Support proposal development, pricing activities and project planning during bid stages.
- Ensure effective management of contract deliverables and milestone payments.
- Contribute to cashflow forecasting and commercial decision-making.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Provide guidance and oversight to Project Managers and junior team members.
- Promote best practice project management methodologies and standards.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery processes.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' Project Management experience within engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, defence, technology, industrial or other regulated environments.
- Recognised Project Management qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or equivalent).
- Proven experience managing budgets, schedules and project risks.
- Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing experience.
- Experience delivering projects against contractual milestones.
- Knowledge of risk management, change management and project governance.
- Strong commercial awareness and contract management capability.
- Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable
- Engineering degree, HNC/HND or equivalent technical qualification.
- Experience working within ISO-regulated environments.
- Exposure to procurement and supplier management activities.
- Aerospace, defence, manufacturing or advanced engineering sector experience.
