Our client in Falmouth, Nova Scotia is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their growing finance team. As the Assistant Controller, you will be a key leader within the finance function, responsible for overseeing core financial operations and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting and controls. Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Oversight of day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities
- Treasury management, including active coordination with multiple banking partners
- Cash flow monitoring, forecasting, and liquidity management support
- Supervision and development of a growing accounting team (4–8 staff)
- Ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity of financial reporting
- Supporting controllership functions as the organization scales
- Continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls
- Support with audit preparation and external reporting requirements
- Collaboration with leadership on financial insights and operational planning
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- CPA designation in progress, or actively pursuing Chartered Professional Accountants (Canada)
- Strong treasury experience is a significant asset (banking relationships, cash management, liquidity planning)
- Comfortable working in a focused, structured, and growing environment
- Demonstrated desire for long-term growth within an organization
- Leadership capability, with experience managing or developing accounting teams
- Strong technical accounting skills and exceptional attention to detail
