Are you a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership, driving accuracy, and contributing to a prominent and continually growing business? Our client, a well-established family-owned organization with respected retail brands across Canada, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team in Prince Edward Island. This is a permanent, full-time role, ideal for a proactive, practical, and detail-oriented individual who can confidently step into the role and quickly make an impact.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000 commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Manage and process biweekly payroll
  • Prepare and review full-cycle accounting activities, including:
    • Payroll
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Fixed Assets
    • General Ledger
  • Support monthly and year-end financial reporting processes
  • File monthly GST and HST returns
  • Perform account reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Assist with cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities
  • Support inventory accounting and fixed asset tracking
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide meaningful financial insights to management
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and reporting obligations

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within small-to-medium-sized businesses
  • Professional accounting designation such as CPA, CMA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and full-cycle accounting processes
  • Extensive payroll experience and confidence managing payroll independently
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics & advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in a retail environment is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and team members
