Our client, a well-established family-owned organization with respected retail brands across Canada, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team in Prince Edward Island. This is a permanent, full-time role, ideal for a proactive, practical, and detail-oriented individual who can confidently step into the role and quickly make an impact.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000 commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Manage and process biweekly payroll
- Prepare and review full-cycle accounting activities, including:
- Payroll
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Fixed Assets
- General Ledger
- Support monthly and year-end financial reporting processes
- File monthly GST and HST returns
- Perform account reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data
- Assist with cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities
- Support inventory accounting and fixed asset tracking
- Conduct variance analysis and provide meaningful financial insights to management
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and reporting obligations
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within small-to-medium-sized businesses
- Professional accounting designation such as CPA, CMA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and full-cycle accounting processes
- Extensive payroll experience and confidence managing payroll independently
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics & advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience in a retail environment is considered an asset
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and team members
