Are you an experienced procurement professional looking for a flexible contract opportunity? We are seeking a Procurement Specialist on behalf of our client, a well-established organization in Bedford, Nova Scotia. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior procurement professional, experienced buyer, or someone with public-sector purchasing experience to provide additional support to an established procurement function with the flexibility of a hybrid schedule.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Support day-to-day procurement activities and purchasing requirements
  • Assist in managing purchasing demands and provide additional coverage as needed
  • Assist with procurement related to building, facilities, and operational requirements
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes, bids, and other supplier information
  • Coordinate purchasing activities in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Review and process procurement-related invoices
  • Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders regarding orders, pricing, deliveries, and discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and records
  • Ensure purchasing activities meet organizational, regulatory, and public-sector procurement standards
  • Provide general procurement support as priorities arise

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, buying, or supply chain
  • Experience working within a public-sector, quasi-government, university, insurance, or similarly regulated environment is highly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and procurement or ERP systems
  • Proven experience managing purchasing requirements with a high degree of accuracy and accountability
  • Strong vendor communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
