Are you a CPA with strong accounting and financial leadership experience who is ready to take on a Controller-level opportunity? We are seeking a Controller on behalf of our client, a dynamic and continually growing organization in Bedford, NS. The successful candidate will work in a professional, collaborative environment and oversee the day-to-day accounting function while managing one Accounting Clerk and playing an important role in supporting the financial health and continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organization
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records and reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and other financial reports
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning
- Monitor internal controls and accounting processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Coordinate with external auditors and other professional advisors
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, policies, and requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting
- Provide hands-on support across the accounting function as required
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- CPA designation in good standing is required
- Several years of progressive accounting, audit, or finance experience
- Experience with Yardi is required or strongly preferred
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills
- Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
