Remote working
Our client, an engineering business based in the Middlesbrough area, is looking to hire a number 2 in finance. The role will report into the Finance Director and you will have 2 direct reports. The client is in a period of growth and is a market leader in their field. The Finance Director is looking to handover the day to day running of the finance team and to have someone who can work closely with them to help the company in their expansion. This is a fully remote role. You will be required to attend occasional meetings but day to day will be working from home. As a result, the client needs someone proactive and able to work independently. They need someone motivated who can organise their time and stay in touch with all relevant managers and team members via online calls.
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Work as the 2nd in finance, assisting the Finance Director with all duties and responsibilities within the Accounts Team.
- Provide weekly, monthly, and Ad-hoc reporting to Senior Management.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Work to Company guidelines, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Oversee accounting functions and reviewing risk management.
- Support strategic planning.
- Accurate reporting of all revenue and costs.
- Production of weekly and monthly reports.
- Production of monthly management accounts including P&L, Cash-Flow, overhead analysis, and balance sheet control accounts.
- Involvement in budgeting and forecasting.
- Assisting with the annual auditing requirements.
- Identifying opportunities for making cost savings or maximising revenues.
- Reviewing and improving Finance procedures and assisting in the development of company systems.
- CAFM System improvements.
Your primary role is to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and the efficient management of financial resources within the Group. This includes overseeing account functions, preparing financial statements, managing cash flow, and preparing budgets and forecasting. You will play a key role in risk management and internal controls.
The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified but they will consider someone qualified by experience. Experience of reconciling complex balance sheets and adjusting trial balances is imperative. IT literacy is important (especially with Excel) as is good communication skills as you will be managing a team of 2 but also liaising with managers across the business regarding finance information. Previous experience of working for a privately owned business or SME would be preferred. The successful applicant will be joining a business with high staff retention rates and a real family, personal feel. Commercial and risk awareness skills are imperative as well as the ability to see the bigger picture.
