On behalf of our client, a highly regarded and growing law firm, we are seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor with a minimum of 5–6 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) to join their established Employment team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to work across a broad range of contentious, non-contentious, transactional, and advisory employment matters.
The successful candidate will be confident advising employer clients on the full spectrum of UK employment law and capable of managing complex matters independently while supporting the development of junior team members. Experience in transactional support work, including TUPE and employment due diligence, is essential. Exposure to advising senior executives would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities- Handle a broad range of complex and high-value employment law matters.
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior members of the team.
- Lead on employment aspects of corporate and property transactions, including:
- Employment due diligence exercises;
- Drafting legal due diligence reports;
- Preparing employment warranties and indemnities;
- Advising on TUPE-related matters.
- Advise employer clients on all aspects of UK employment law, including:
- Employee relations;
- Performance management;
- Disciplinary and grievance procedures;
- Discrimination and whistleblowing matters;
- Senior executive exits;
- Redundancies and restructurings;
- Settlement agreements;
- Day-to-day HR and workplace issues.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of employment documentation, including:
- Employment contracts;
- Senior executive service agreements;
- Staff handbooks and policies;
- Settlement agreements.
- Manage Employment Tribunal claims from inception through to final hearing, including:
- Drafting pleadings and witness statements;
- Conducting disclosure exercises;
- Attending and advocating at preliminary hearings;
- Participating in judicial mediations;
- Managing client relationships throughout the litigation process.
- Advise and represent senior executives in relation to disputes, exits, and settlement negotiations.
- Handle restrictive covenant disputes and County Court discrimination claims.
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
- Minimum 5–6 years' PQE specialising in employment law.
- Experience gained within a City, corporate, or specialist employment practice.
- Strong track record advising employers, business owners, and senior management teams.
- Demonstrable experience handling complex and high-value employment matters.
- Experience supporting corporate transactions and advising on TUPE.
- Advocacy experience, ideally up to preliminary hearing level.
- Experience supervising and developing junior lawyers.
- An existing client following would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Excellent technical knowledge of employment law.
- Commercially astute with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
- Strong case management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across contentious, advisory, and transactional matters.
