An innovative and fast-growing international technology business specialising in advanced imaging and sensor technologies is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to strengthen and support its expanding finance function.
Operating within a highly technical and commercially driven environment, the business is experiencing continued growth and requires a hands-on finance professional capable of supporting operational excellence, financial control, and strategic decision-making.
Role Purpose
The Financial Controller will play a key role in supporting the Finance Director and enhancing the overall finance capability of the business as it continues to scale. This position combines hands-on financial control responsibilities with commercial analysis, financial planning, process improvement, and systems integration. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, improve financial visibility across the organisation, and support data-driven decision-making through robust controls, insightful analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Control
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including commentary and variance analysis
- Maintain ownership of accounting ledgers, including accruals, prepayments, and journal postings
- Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Maintain strong financial controls and continuously improve accounting processes and procedures
- Oversee transactional finance activities through management of the bookkeeping/accounting support function
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Deliver financial planning and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Produce and develop cash flow forecasting models
- Analyse product costs, margins, and inventory performance to support manufacturing and commercial operations
- Provide insightful financial reporting and analysis to the Finance Director and wider leadership team
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Ensure effective integration and flow of information between ERP systems, accounting ledgers, and reporting tools
- Support ongoing finance systems optimisation and automation initiatives
- Contribute to the development of scalable financial processes suitable for a growing international business
- Support the enhancement of data reporting and business intelligence capabilities
- Business Support
- Support the Finance Director with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and strategic finance projects
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and financial visibility
- Work collaboratively with operational and commercial teams to support business performance and growth
Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
Experience
- Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
- Strong management accounting, financial analysis, and balance sheet control experience
- Experience within a manufacturing or technology-led environment would be advantageous
- Experience working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, or scaling business preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting software packages
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Strong analytical and data interpretation capability
