Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be working with a PE backed innovative business based in Liverpool to recruit a Group Financial Controller. Reporting to the CFO you will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring strong financial governance, compliance, and reporting. You will manage the finance team, drive financial strategy, process improvements and support the CFO in decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, FRS 102, and UK GAAP.
  • Ensure timely and accurate group consolidation of financial reports across all subsidiaries.
  • Maintain robust financial controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Manage the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making by senior management.
  • Ownership of Group P&L, cashflow & balance sheet performance including cashflow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Ensure robust cost accountability and embed a cost to serve developing tools to identify cost drivers and ensure clear actions to track, measure and reduce costs where appropriate.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Analyse financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective cash flow management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimisation.
  • Develop and monitor financial KPIs to track business performance.
  • Oversee tax compliance, including VAT, corporation tax, and other statutory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards across the group.
  • Implement and enhance internal financial controls to mitigate risk and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain relationships with external financial institutions, banks, PE investors, tax authorities, and auditors.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring strong performance and continuous development.
  • Support the CFO in finance transformation projects, process automation, and system improvements.

Experience Required:

  • Fully qualified CIMA, ACA, or ACCA professional.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, FRS 102, and UK tax regulations.
  • Proven ability to provide financial insight and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of financial modelling, forecasting, and business analysis.
  • Experience managing group reporting, consolidations, and external audits.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
  • Previous experience of leading and developing finance teams.
  • Experience dealing with private equity ownership structures and board-level financial reporting is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity or global business structure is beneficial.
