Finance Manager – up to £45,000 | SME | Construction Sector

Are you a hands-on Finance Manager looking to make a real impact within a growing SME?
We're partnering with a well-established business in the construction industry that's looking for a proactive and commercially minded Finance Manager to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, owner-managed environment and enjoys taking ownership of the full finance function.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring strong financial control and visibility across the business. You'll be responsible for management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management, while also playing a key role in supporting strategic decisions at leadership level.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing accurate monthly management accounts with insightful analysis and commentary.

  • Managing all aspects of financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.

  • Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to drive commercial performance.

  • Ensuring compliance with all financial and tax regulations.

  • Managing cash flow, working capital, and relationships with banks and external auditors.

  • Leading and mentoring junior finance staff (where applicable).

About You

We're looking for a Finance professional who's confident managing a full finance function in an SME environment, ideally with experience in the construction or related sectors.

You'll bring:

  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role within an SME.

  • Solid understanding of management accounting, financial controls, and reporting.

  • Proficiency in Xero and advanced Excel skills.

  • Strong commercial acumen with a focus on cost control and profitability.

  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
