We are partnering with a growing, private equity-backed accountancy firm in Manchester to appoint a Senior Accountant, on a 6 month FTC paying £35,000 - £45,000, with an opportunity to go permanent. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to join a modern and forward-thinking practice with strong backing, continued investment and clear growth plans across the North West.

Working as part of a close-knit team, you will manage a varied portfolio of SME clients across a broad range of sectors including hair & beauty, IT, social media, manufacturing, opticians, dentists and professional services. This role would suit somebody who enjoys developing client relationships, reviewing work and taking ownership of a portfolio, while being supported by an established offshore bookkeeping team.

Responsibilities
  • Managing a portfolio of SME clients with turnovers typically under £10m
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a broad range of owner-managed businesses
  • Reviewing draft accounts prepared by the wider team
  • Preparing and supporting with personal tax returns and Corporate Tax returns
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients, building strong long-term relationships
  • Liaising with an established offshore team responsible for bookkeeping and transactional work
  • Supporting clients with day-to-day accounting queries and providing a high level of service
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders across the wider business as the firm continues to grow
Your Attributes
  • AAT qualified as a minimum or QBE, ideally with a strong accounts background
  • Practice experience within an accountancy firm is essential
  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing accounts
  • Comfortable managing a varied SME client portfolio
  • Experience with personal tax would be advantageous
  • Ambitious, proactive and keen to develop within a growing business
  • Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
