Finance Manager – Knowsley. Are you a qualified Finance Manager / Head of Finance who is looking to join a high-growth SME business in a senior leadership role? This growing SME in Knowsley is seeking a Finance Manager to lead a small team, strengthen financial processes, and play a pivotal role in shaping the finance function as the business continues to expand.

The Role

This is a hands-on Finance Manager position, combining leadership, process improvement, and commercial finance. You’ll manage a small finance team, ensuring accuracy in reporting while introducing stronger processes and controls to support sustainable growth. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll provide insight and analysis to help drive performance in a fast-moving SME environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a small finance team, ensuring delivery of accurate and timely management accounts
  • Introduce and embed robust financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks
  • Produce monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements with insightful variance analysis
  • Partner with department heads to drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Identify and implement cost efficiencies, while supporting investment and growth decisions
  • Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and support capital expenditure planning
  • Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership

What We’re Looking For:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
  • Proven management accounting experience with a background in SMEs or fast-paced industries (logistics/retail desirable)
  • Experience managing or mentoring a small team
  • Strong track record in building and improving financial processes and controls
  • Commercially astute with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage and challenge stakeholders at all levels
