A well-established and growing plant and machinery business is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join its finance team. Operating across multiple sites with a large and expanding rental fleet, this organisation offers an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure across a busy finance function within a commercial environment.

Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting day-to-day finance operations, supervising transactional activity, and contributing to monthly reporting and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Financial Controller with the daily running of the finance function
  • Supervise and support members of the accounts team
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reconcile machine profit between stock records and management accounts
  • Maintain accurate machine stock records and support regular stock checks with sales teams
  • Prepare payroll information for submission to an external payroll provider
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Assist with cashiering duties, including payments and receipts
  • Manage and reconcile HP creditors
  • Identify and implement improvements to finance processes and controls
About You
  • Previous experience in a similar finance or management accounting role
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Confident Excel user (intermediate level or above)
  • Experience with Sage 50 and dealership/asset-based systems is advantageous
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a wider team
  • Proactive, resilient, and solutions-focused
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
