Job Description

Montana Spa & Fitness

Do you love fitness, enjoy talking to people, and take real pride in keeping your surroundings looking their best?

If so, we want to hear from you.

At Montana Spa & Fitness, we are looking for a Leisure Club Assistant who is passionate about people, fitness and exceptional standards.

We have a community of more than 300 Leisure Club Members, many of whom visit us regularly. This isn't simply a role where you check people in and point them towards the gym. We want someone who gets to know our members, remembers their names, understands what they are trying to achieve and genuinely enjoys being part of their fitness journey.

You could be welcoming a regular member by name in the morning, helping someone use a piece of equipment for the first time, suggesting a workout routine, checking in with a member about their progress, or simply having a friendly conversation over a coffee. Building relationships is at the heart of this role.

And when it comes to the club itself, we want someone who takes ownership. Our facilities should always look and feel exceptional. That means being prepared to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in – cleaning equipment, poolside areas, changing rooms, sauna, steam room and other facilities throughout the week. You won't be afraid of hard work, and you'll understand that the small details make a big difference to our members' experience.

What will you be doing?

Your role will be varied, hands-on and people-focused. You will:

  • Build genuine relationships with our 300+ Leisure Club Members and get to know our regulars by name.
  • Welcome members, hotel and spa guests with warmth, enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Help members feel confident using our gym equipment and facilities.
  • Introduce new members to the gym and explain how equipment can be used safely and effectively.
  • Support members with basic fitness guidance and appropriate workout routines within your level of knowledge and qualification.
  • Encourage and motivate members to achieve their personal fitness goals.
  • Be visible and approachable on the gym floor and around the Leisure Club.
  • Take pride in maintaining an exceptionally clean, safe and welcoming environment.
  • Roll up your sleeves and get involved in the cleaning of the entire facility, including gym equipment, fitness areas, poolside, changing areas, sauna, steam room and hot tub.
  • Complete regular deep cleans and ensure high standards are maintained throughout every week.
  • Carry out swimming pool and hot tub water testing in accordance with our procedures.
  • Ensure fitness equipment and facilities are clean, safe, correctly positioned and well presented.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Leisure Club and fitness activities.
  • Deal confidently and professionally with member and guest queries.
  • Resolve complaints where possible and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Manage fitness memberships, spa and treatment bookings.
  • Handle telephone enquiries and provide accurate information.
  • Complete daily administration, pool diaries using the Riskproof app and relevant records.
  • Handle cash and receipts, including daily reconciliation of takings and revenue.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and complete relevant checks.
  • Work closely with our Spa and Fitness team to create a friendly, relaxed and professional environment.
  • Have a bit of fun! We want our members to enjoy coming here.

Qualifications

The person we're looking for: we're really interested in who you are.

You will ideally be someone who:

  • Genuinely enjoys fitness and an active lifestyle.
  • Loves talking to people and building relationships.
  • Gets satisfaction from helping others achieve their goals.
  • Is naturally friendly, approachable and confident.
  • Has the personality to remember names, recognise faces and make members feel valued.
  • Is comfortable demonstrating gym equipment and talking about different ways to exercise.
  • Has a positive, enthusiastic and motivational attitude.
  • Takes genuine pride in cleanliness and presentation.
  • Isn't afraid to get stuck in and do the jobs that need doing.
  • Has excellent attention to detail.
  • Can work independently and use their initiative.
  • Is reliable, organised and professional.
  • Can remain calm and helpful when dealing with complaints or difficult situations.
  • Is happy working flexibly across mornings, evenings, weekends and busy periods.

Previous experience in a hotel, gym, leisure club or spa environment would be advantageous.
