Our mission at Novotel York Centre is to create memorable moments for our guests, by connecting hearts from arrival to farewell. To us, it is as important that you enjoy your time at the hotel as much as our guests. Our hotel consists of 146 bedrooms, 6 meeting rooms, a restaurant & bar as well as a soon to open swimming pool and sauna.
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Handyperson/Painter to join our maintenance team in Novotel York. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of maintenance tasks, with a primary focus on painting and general repairs. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, efficient, and able to handle diverse maintenance challenges.
- Perform high-quality painting work on interior and exterior surfaces
- Execute general maintenance and repair tasks, including basic carpentry and plumbing
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and applying primer
- Mix and match paint colors to meet specific requirements
- Maintain and organize tools and equipment
- Identify and report any major maintenance issues to management
- Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- Assist with other maintenance tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a handyperson or painter
- Proficiency in various painting techniques and use of painting tools
- Basic carpentry and plumbing skills
- Knowledge of safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment
- Ability to use hand and power tools effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Relevant vocational training in painting or general maintenance (preferred)
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed
