Join Our Kitchen Team

Novotel Glasgow is looking for a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our busy kitchen brigade. This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who enjoys working with fresh ingredients, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering consistently high-quality food. Our kitchen supports a busy restaurant, conference and events operation, room service, and regular tour group dining, making no two days the same.

We're looking for someone who can confidently run their section, support junior team members and support the Head Chef.

What You'll Be Doing

  • As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our busy kitchen, taking charge in the Head Chef absence.
  • Lead, inspire and motivate the kitchen brigade during busy breakfast, lunch and dinner services.
  • Monitor food preparation, presentation and portion control.
  • Collaborate on seasonal menus, daily specials, and local fresh produce sourcing.
  • Assist with stock control, supplier ordering, food safety and HACCP compliance.

What We're Looking For

  • Professional Cookery Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef
  • Experience working in a busy hotel, restaurant, banqueting or high-volume catering environment
  • Strong pastry and dessert preparation skills
  • Experience catering for large groups and high-volume service
  • Excellent understanding of food safety, HACCP and kitchen hygiene standards
  • Ability to lead a section independently and support junior team members
  • Passion for fresh food, quality ingredients and high standards
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to perform under pressure
