Our client is a well-known and responsible HGV dealership. Currently they are looking for an experienced Automotive Welder / HGV Welder to join their busy workshop in Livingston.
Job Summary: An Automotive Welder is responsible for welding, fabricating, and repairing metal components used in vehicle manufacturing and automotive repair. The role involves working with various welding techniques to ensure structural integrity, safety, and quality standards in automotive parts and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, spot, or arc welding on automotive parts and frames
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components such as chassis, body panels, exhaust systems, and brackets
- Inspect welded joints for quality, strength, and compliance with specifications
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and tools
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company quality standards
- Repair defects and rework welds as needed
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an automotive or industrial welder
- Proficiency in MIG and/or TIG welding (spot welding preferred in manufacturing environments)
- Ability to work with steel, aluminium, and stainless steel
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Ability to read technical drawings and welding symbols
- Knowledge of welding safety standards and procedures
Education & Certification (Preferred):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Welding certification (AWS or equivalent preferred)
- Automotive manufacturing or repair experience is an advantage
Working Conditions:
