HGV/Breakdown Technician needed £52,000 - £59,000 (OTE) per annum

Our client, a family-owned commercial vehicle dealership, is seeking a HGV Technician/Breakdown Technician to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for completing routine maintenance inspections, servicing, general repairs right up to in-depth diagnosis, gearbox, engine replacements - wherever your skillset will take you. The dealership will also commit to developing you further to increase your knowledge of our Brands. When required, the candidate will be provided breakdown cover on our rota which brings additional earning opportunities.

Role: HGV/Breakdown Technician

Salary: £52,000 - £59,000 (OTE) per annum

Hours: Basic hours are 40 per week; Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and 1.00pm to 10pm (one hour unpaid lunch)

Location: Reading

Roadside Assistance element:

  • Bank Holidays on call paid at Double Time.
  • Use of Company Vehicle for week on call.
  • Roadside Training where applicable and needed.
  • On Call Rota.
  • Paid Standby Rates per £40.00 per night - that’s an additional £6,720.00.
  • Hours worked outside your working week paid at 1½ - once 40 hours worked.

  • Level 3 Qualification desired, however, we will consider time served applications over 5 years with proven experience
  • LGV/HGV/PCV Licence an advantage
  • Roadside Assistance Training qualification an advantage
  • Bus and coach experience an advantage
  • IRTEC accreditation desirable but not essential as we have IRTEC courses available
