HGV Technician * Location: Exeter * Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per year * Job Type: Full Time, Permanent * Shift Pattern: Choose from a range – Early, Day, Late, Split Shifts; Monday to Friday or Monday to Thursday Job Description Our client is a well known and reputable HGV dealership with several depots across the South East of England. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or HGV Fitter to join their professional workshop team at their Exeter depot. The Role You will be responsible for carrying out inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs on a range of HGVs and trailers, ensuring all vehicles remain safe, compliant and roadworthy in line with DVSA and company standards. Key Responsibilities * Perform routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers * Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and manual inspections * Carry out MOT preparation and inspections * Repair or replace mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components * Ensure all work complies with DVSA regulations and health and safety standards * Complete job cards, inspection sheets and service records accurately * Assist with breakdowns and roadside repairs when required * Work closely with the workshop team to minimise vehicle downtime * Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment Skills and Experience Required * Proven experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Fitter * Strong diagnostic and fault finding skills * Good understanding of HGV systems including brakes, suspension, engines and electrics * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards Qualifications * NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair * HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence desirable but not essential * MOT Tester qualification desirable Working Environment * Workshop based role with occasional roadside work * Candidates can select their preferred shift pattern from the following options: Early, Day, Late or Split Shifts * Schedule options include Monday to Friday or Monday to Thursday * Use of modern workshop tools and diagnostic equipment This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or HGV Fitter who is looking to progress their career within a growing and supportive company
