Vehicle Technician / Mechanic - Barnsley - Up to £49,000 OTE (Depending on experience and qualifications) - Full-Time | Permanent - Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, plus alternate Saturday mornings.

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for two skilled and dependable Vehicle Technicians to join a successful and expanding automotive group in Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified technicians looking to work in a professional workshop environment with access to ongoing training, strong earning potential, and genuine opportunities for career development. You will carry out servicing, repairs, diagnostics, vehicle preparation, and MOT testing (if qualified), ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine servicing and maintenance
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
  • Carry out vehicle health checks (VHCs)
  • Prepare vehicles to a high standard
  • Conduct MOT testing (if qualified)
  • Complete all job cards and workshop documentation accurately
  • Follow all health and safety procedures

Candidate Requirements:

To be considered, you should have:

  • NVQ Level 3 / IMI Level 3 / City & Guilds qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the motor trade
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive and reliable approach to work

Desirable (but not essential):

  • MOT Tester licence
  • Main dealer or franchised dealership experience
  • Experience using electronic Vehicle Health Check (VHC) systems
  • Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle technology, electronics, and hybrid systems
