ROLE: Mental Health Support Worker
LOCATION: The Lighthouse, Burnham-on-Sea (TA8)
SALARY: £14.05 - £14.75* per hour
HOURS: 35 hours a week
SHIFT: 08:30 - 21:00pm / Occasional sleep in if needed to cover.
At The Lighthouse we support nine people with mental health needs or who may have a dual diagnosis. We work with people with varied abilities to reach their full potential, enabling them to develop skills, strengths and resilience. We help them develop resources to self‑manage and stay well, providing coping techniques that make a noticeable difference in everyday life. We understand each individual’s needs may vary; we encourage, support and motivate them to achieve their optimum level of independence.
Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day support and routine of the people we support.
- Prompting independence while helping them live a fulfilling life.
- Supporting and encouraging the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
- Maintaining and helping with health care needs, including accompanying the people we support to routine appointments or administering medication.
- Teaching life skills such as budgeting, paying bills & shopping.
- Assisting with personal care as required.
- Assisting with domestic tasks including cleaning & cooking.
- Providing guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional support.
Experience within the care sector is not needed; full training, coaching and development are provided.
