Role: Support Worker

Location: Newport, Gwent (NP20)

Salary: £13.45 – £14.05* per hour

Hours: 35 hours a week

Shifts: 08:00am – 20:30 & 20:30 – 08:00am (mix of days and nights)

Drivers Required – MUST HAVE A MANUAL DRIVING LICENCE

About Ty-Newydd

Ty-Newydd is a lovely 6‑bedroom bungalow on the outskirts of Newport and has a regular bus route into Newport town centre. There are gardens to the front and rear.

We have a strong emphasis on promoting a person‑centred approach, using active support and encouraging independent living skills to enhance individuals’ quality of life and their ability to function autonomously.

Responsibilities

  • Day‑to‑day support and routine of the people we support.
  • Prompting independence whilst helping them live a fulfilling life.
  • Supporting & encouraging the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
  • Maintaining and helping with health care needs, including accompanying the people we support to routine appointments or administering medication.
  • Teaching life skills such as budgeting, paying bills & shopping.
  • Assisting with personal care as required.
  • Assisting with domestic tasks including cleaning & cooking.
  • Providing guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional support.

Qualifications

Experience within the care sector is not needed as we offer full training, coaching and development.
