ROLE: Mental Health Support Worker
LOCATION: The Lighthouse, Burnham-on-Sea (TA8)
SALARY: £13.20 - £13.90 per hour
HOURS: 35 hours a week
SHIFT: 08:30 - 21:00 (Occasional sleep in if needed to cover)
About The Lighthouse
At The Lighthouse we support nine people with mental health needs or who may have a dual diagnosis. We work with people with varied abilities to reach their full potential. We enable people to develop their skills, strengths and resilience. We help them to develop their own set of resources to self‑manage and stay well. We provide people with the right support to assist them in developing coping techniques which can make a noticeable difference in their everyday lives. We understand that everyone is an individual and their needs may vary, but whatever the person's situation or however complex their needs are we will encourage, support and motivate them to achieve their optimum level of independence.
As a Support Worker, you will be involved in the day‑to‑day support and routine of the people within the service, including:
- Day‑to‑day support and routine of the people we support.
- Prompting independence whilst helping them live a fulfilling life.
- Supporting & encouraging the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
- Maintaining and helping with health care needs, including accompanying the people we support to routine appointments or administering medication.
- Teaching life skills such as budgeting, paying bills & shopping.
- Assisting with personal care as required.
- Assisting with domestic tasks including cleaning & cooking.
- Providing guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional support.
Experience within the care sector is not needed as we offer full training, coaching and development.
