Repairing Material Handling Equipment.
- Repair of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components.
- Repairing hydraulic valves and rams.
- Repairing final drive and gearbox components.
- Repairing engines and components.
- Servicing Material Handling Equipment.
- Responsible for servicing gas, diesel and electric powered Material Handling Equipment.
- Using a check sheet, checking that the brakes are fully functional, and that the lifting equipment and steering are in correct working order.
- Changing the oil and filters as necessary.
- Thorough Examinations pending qualifications.
- Carry out Preventative Maintenance, such as lubricating steering and lifting equipment.
- Overhaul of Material Handling Equipment.
- Responsible for completing a partial strip-down of gas, diesel, or electric Material Handling Equipment.
- Responsible for preparing, steam cleaning or painting the chassis of Material Handling Equipment.
- Responsible for bolting/welding on ancillaries to the chassis.
- Battery Maintenance: Check voltages and gravities of forklift trucks, using meters and hydrometers.
- New and Used Equipment Preparation: Responsible for the preparation of gas, diesel and electric Material Handling Equipment by performing pre-delivery inspections (PDI’s), using a check-sheet from the manufacturer to check the specifications to meet the customer’s requirements, along with overseeing the despatch and receipt of Material Handling Equipment in and out of the Depot.
- Engineer Paperwork: Responsible for completion of weekly timesheet.
- Completing job sheets on a daily basis to record progress on repairs, parts used or required, etc.
- Liaising with the Service Controller as necessary and advising of any changes.
- Any other reasonable duties related to this role.
