We are seeking an accomplished Project Buyer to become a key player in our dynamic project team. This is your chance to take a leading role in shaping procurement strategies and driving supplier engagement from concept through to completion.

You’ll be supporting a landmark £400 million infrastructure project at Thames Water’s Coppermills Water Treatment Works—an opportunity to make a tangible impact on one of the UK’s most critical utilities projects.

Job Description

  • Lead the process: Oversee procurement from supplier engagement to delivery, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Shape strategy: Collaborate on procurement plans and engage suppliers early in the project lifecycle.
  • Work cross-functionally: Partner with Engineering, QHSE, Legal, Finance, and more to keep timelines and budgets on track.
  • Own negotiations: Prepare tenders, manage RFQs, and lead discussions with key suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Analyze & decide: Evaluate quotations, define Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and prepare award proposals.
  • Drive results: Issue purchase orders, manage change orders, and follow up with suppliers.
  • Report & inform: Deliver monthly reports for internal teams and clients.

Required Skills And Competencies

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, with a background in industrial/engineering projects.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • Previous experience working with Procurement ERP tools.
  • Excellent negotiation and organizational skills.
  • A dynamic, goal-oriented professional with strong planning abilities.
