Construction Project Engineer (Civil or other equivalent engineering discipline) to assist in delivering engineering and construction support for one of the UK\βs largest clean water infrastructure projects, ensuring projects are designed, built, and commissioned to meet stringent drinking water quality, regulatory, and operational requirements.
Project Engineer to have a minimum of 4 years plus experience in design and construction management, preferably in the water sector. Support the construction team and work with the preconstruction team in developing design solutions and constructability. Ideally worked in the water industry and aware of the process and procedures for delivery water projects in UK.
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Engineer for a high-profile programme ensuring standards are met throughout design, construction, and commissioning phases.
Responsibilities include:
- Package Engineering & Coordination
- Collaborate with design teams for efficient construction solutions.
- Manage works packages for tendering and delivery.
- Review technical submissions from designers and subcontractors.
- Manage interfaces between packages and liaise with suppliers.
- Attend engineering meetings in the UK and Spain.
- Support procurement and contract negotiations.
- Assist in site operations, RAMS, temporary works, and logistics.
- Lead site teams, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity.
- Programme Delivery
- Monitor progress against the master programme.
- Resolve blockers to maintain schedule.
- Coordinate with planning teams for updates and reporting.
- Commercial & Contract Management
- Support NEC subcontract management including change control and payments.
- Assist with cost forecasting and earned value tracking.
- Collaborate on valuations and change management.
- Stakeholder Management
- Act as liaison between design consultants, subcontractors, site teams, and Thames Water.
- Chair and attend progress meetings, report to project leadership.
- Coordinate stakeholders for smooth project execution.
- Governance & Compliance
- Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with CDM and Thames Water SHE standards.
- Maintain documentation including RAMS, ITPs, commissioning records, and as-builts.
- Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee commissioning plans and testing.
- Manage snagging and final handover documentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or HNC in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years\β experience in design and construction management, ideally in the water sector.
- Proven track record on major (Β£50m+) infrastructure or utilities projects.
- Familiarity with UK water standards and clean water processes.
- Experience with NEC contracts.
- EUSR Water Hygiene Card / Thames Water Passport.
- SMSTS, CSCS (Gold or Black), First Aid at Work certifications.
Desirable:
- Experience in management contracting or delivery partner environments.
- Understanding of Thames Water delivery processes.
