About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Sport & English Tutor to deliver engaging lessons across BTEC Level 3 Sport and GCSE English, supporting learners to achieve outstanding outcomes and progress into higher education, employment and professional sport pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and structured lessons across BTEC Level 3 Sport and GCSE English programmes.
  • Teach theory and applied learning within sport, including anatomy and physiology, training principles and performance analysis.
  • Deliver GCSE English lessons covering reading, writing, language skills and examination techniques.
  • Set clear learning objectives and high expectations for learner achievement.
  • Assess and mark learner work in line with awarding body requirements, including Pass, Merit and Distinction criteria for BTEC qualifications.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback that supports learner progress and achievement.
  • Monitor learner performance, attendance and engagement, identifying underperformance at an early stage.
  • Support learners with revision strategies, study skills and examination preparation.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of learners with differing abilities and learning styles.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to attendance, progress and assessment outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support learners with additional needs and overcome barriers to learning.

About You

  • Strong subject knowledge in both sport and English.
  • Experience delivering BTEC Level 3 Sport qualifications and GCSE English.
  • A sound understanding of awarding body specifications, assessment criteria and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent classroom management and learner engagement skills.
  • The ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Experience of formative and summative assessment practices.
  • High expectations of learner achievement and progression.
  • Strong organisational, planning and communication skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Degree in Sport Science, English, Education or a related subject.
  • UEFA C Licence or above.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification such as PGCE, DET or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in teaching, learning and assessment.
