Plenty of Overtime & Call out - Company Van

Access Talent Group are working on behalf of our client and are seeking an experienced Service Engineer to join a field-based service team in London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, fault-finding and repairing a range of pumping systems and associated equipment.

You will diagnose faults, carry out repairs and maintenance, and provide recommendations to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently.

The role involves servicing and repairing a variety of pumped drainage and water management equipment, including wastewater pumping stations, packaged pump systems, macerators, water booster pumps, pressurisation units and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance and servicing of pumping equipment, including water booster pumps, pressurisation units, submersible pumps, centrifugal pumps and control equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and complete all required service and job documentation.
  • Install and modify associated pipework.
  • Commission new pumping and associated equipment.
  • Identify and advise on remedial works and complete repairs when authorised.
  • Complete timesheets, job sheets and expense documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of parts and equipment in the company vehicle.
  • Take electrical measurements and readings using appropriate testing equipment, including volt and ohmmeters.
  • Carry out pump station refurbishments and upgrades.
  • Assist with new installation projects when required.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and organised company vehicle and report any vehicle issues promptly.
  • Advise customers and colleagues on potential upgrades to existing pumping installations.
  • Work outside normal hours when required to meet operational needs.
  • Undertake overnight stays for out-of-area work where agreed in advance.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties consistent with the role.
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience.
  • Proven experience installing and servicing pump stations.
  • Previous experience working within construction or site-based environments.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge; previous mechanical engineering experience is advantageous.
  • Good electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience with fault-finding and diagnostic work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines.
  • Full, valid driving licence.
  • CSCS certification.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to work in confined spaces; relevant training can be provided where required.
  • Knowledge and experience of lifting equipment and confined-space equipment, including harnesses, man-riding equipment and gas detectors.
  • Comfortable undertaking site work in challenging environments, including basements and areas accessed via stairways.
  • Willingness to work outside normal working hours when required.
  • Ability to pass DBS and/or client security checks where required.
  • Working Conditions

This is a field-based position involving travel to customer and project sites. The role may involve working in confined spaces, basements and other challenging site environments.

Overnight stays may occasionally be required for work outside the normal operating area, with arrangements agreed in advance.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain high standards of safety, professionalism and workmanship at all times.
