We are looking for a skilled Civil / Structural Engineer to join an organically growing Consultancy in the heart of London. The ideal Candidate will undertake the design of Bridges, retaining walls and other Civil Structures for various design phases. You will focus on the technical lead and delivery of the maintenance of highway bridges, involving bridge inspections, monitoring, structural assessments, repairs, strengthening and refurbishment. The projects vary in size and complexity, with a geographical spread locally, regionally and nationally.
Responsibilities:
- Leading a team of Engineers to deliver projects on time and to budget.
- Support with work winning, project management activities and client facing, to ensure project delivery remains on plan.
- Previous exposure with clients of both national and local authorities, together with major contractors.
- Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for a team. Technical expertise should include the ability to carry out independent structural analysis and design / assessment of rail or highways structures.
- Strong ability in finite element modelling. Knowledge of Lusas is beneficial.
- Experience with bridge and related structural inspection assessment and design schemes.
- Ability to manage staff and project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with CDM legislation.
- Good knowledge of the Eurocode Standards and DMRB.
- Provides support to the team for professional development.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff\’s specific area of expertise.
- Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
- Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
- Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
- Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of S&E packages.
- Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
- Prepares technical specification sections in accordance with the MCWH and DMRB.
- Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Candidate Profile:
- Chartered, Incorporated.
- Significant structures and bridge design experience to DMRB, Eurocodes, SHW and NEC contracts.
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a design team environment.
- Able to lead high quality structures/bridge technical design on projects including supervision of less experienced colleagues.
- Knowledge and understanding of constructability of designs is desirable.
