Civil & Structural Engineering, Transport Infrastructure
((BST: 8:00 - 18:00 (Mon/Thurs) 8:00 - 16:00 (Fri)))
We are seeking a skilled Principal Or Associate to lead railway projects across in a number of locations across the UK. This Individual will be working on a wide range of Railway projects across Structures and General Civils. You will have to have skills in managing people, projects and Clients within the railway sector.
Responsibilities
- Be a leading Engineer to manage people, projects and clients in the Rail sector.
- Manage and be part of growth of rail clients.
- Lead to deliver projects.
- Promote the business in the rail sector services both within and external
- Preparation and technical approval of railway submissions in accordance with NR/L2/CIV/003 and the relevant Network Rail Company Standards.
- Preparation of geotechnical, engineering designs using manual calculations and industry standard software, gaining assistance from other disciplines where required.
- Liaise and communicate with clients and external agencies i.e. Network Rail, Represent JNP Group at meetings and in writing when required and attend site to undertake surveys and inspections.
- Control the programmed performance of projects for own discipline and where appropriate other disciplines you are project managing. For example, agree the scope, produce fee proposals, ensure time and financial aspects are achieved.
- Overseeing the preparation of drawings.
- Experience in carrying out the role of CRE-D for the specific discipline (experience of CEM role is desirable but not essential)
- Experience of managing multi-discipline schemes and co-ordinating or participating in IDC meetings and responding to and closing out DRN comments.
- Negotiating additional fees for additional services where necessary
- Attendance at project review meetings and managing client expectations
- Attendance at marketing events and conference where required.
- Mentoring more junior members of staff and taking an interest in their development and advancement.
Experience
- Conversant with Network Rail Company Standards and Railway Group Standards.
- Working knowledge of relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.
- Depending on discipline; The ability to use industry standard computer software.
- PTS & DCCR certification preferred. Training will be given to the right candidate if required.
- Willingness to work occasional weekend and night shifts for the purpose of surveys and inspections.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage own projects and resources within agreed time scales.
- Ability to manage the workload of your team including graduate engineers and technicians.
- Have a commercial understanding of fee management.
