We’re working with a busy, well-respected engineering consultancy based in West Sussex, seeking an experienced Built Environment Structural Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys autonomy, responsibility, and a great work-life balance by the coast.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural site visits, assessments, and inspections
  • Produce structural calculations, drawings, and design reports in line with Building Regulations and British Standards
  • Deliver design solutions in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber
  • Advise on Building Regulations applications and tender documentation
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Provide technical supervision and check structural calculations
  • Manage own workload including quoting, scheduling site visits, and invoicing

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in structural design
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and British Standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to access lofts, climb ladders, and carry out site visits confidently
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (CEng or IStructE)
  • Party Wall Surveyor knowledge
