Civil Engineer - Drainage

Civil & Structural Engineering, Ecology and Environmental ((BST: 8:00 – 18:00 (Mon/Thurs) 8:00 – 16:00 (Fri))) Access Talent group is currently recruiting for a medium-sized design consultancy based in Yorkshire. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer with expertise in drainage design and flood risk assessments to join a dynamic and growing team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing sustainable drainage systems, assessing flood risks, and contributing to projects within a multidisciplinary team. You will be working on projects within the residential, commercial, and infrastructure sector with a large pipeline of work within the Environmental sector. Key Responsibilities and Experience Drainage Design: Develop detailed designs for surface water and foul drainage systems using industry-standard software (e.g., MicroDrainage, Civil 3D, or similar). Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., SuDS, local authority guidance, national regulations). Flood Risk Assessments (FRA): Conduct flood risk assessments for planning applications, ensuring adherence to current legislation and best practices. Prepare risk assessments, site walkovers, and oversee CCTV. Liase with clients and stakeholders. Manage time and budgets. Qualifications and Experience Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Experience: Minimum of 3 years in civil engineering, with specific focus on drainage design and flood risk assessments. Technical Proficiency: Competence in drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage, Civil 3D, AutoCAD). Familiarity with flood risk modeling tools and GIS platforms is advantageous. Knowledge: Strong understanding of SuDS principles, UK planning system, and relevant design codes and standards. Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
