Overview
Access Talent Group are currently recruiting for a large international design consultancy for an office in the south west. Our client is looking for an Associate Civil Engineer to work within the Infrastructure team.
This role leads on projects for the Sizewell C nuclear project and will also involve work on HS2, Hinkley Point C and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The ideal candidate would be a well‑rounded civil engineer, technically competent across core Civil Engineering disciplines, with exemplary communication skills, and experience leading teams to deliver projects. The role supports projects in multiple sectors including transportation, energy, and defence.
Key responsibilities include leading civil engineering design work and coordinating across teams, delivering schemes from large mega-projects to multiple projects within frameworks, preparing briefs and input into bid proposals, managing time and budgets to project milestones, and adhering to quality assurance standards in design.
Responsibilities
- Undertake and technically lead teams in civil engineering designs including surface water, foul water, reinforced concrete structures, utility design, and coordination.
- Lead teams to deliver schemes on a range of projects from mega-projects to multiple projects within frameworks.
- Prepare briefs, scopes of work, and contribute to bid proposals.
- Manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
- Adhere to quality assurance standards in design.
Key Requirements
- Chartered Civil Engineer.
- Experience leading a design team.
- Proficiency in designing at least one civil engineering sub-field with strong knowledge of applicable codes and guidance (e.g., surface water, foul water, reinforced concrete structures, utility design, coordination).
- Experience in design delivery with coordination across disciplines in multidisciplinary design.
- Experience working with and negotiating with key project stakeholders including regulatory, statutory, and local bodies.
- Experience in business development and successful competitive tendering.
- Strong problem-solving skills, pragmatic and practical mindset.
- Accountability for work carried out by self and team.
- Ability to work well with others, including client teams, other disciplines, and contractors at all levels inside and outside the business.
- Self-motivated to produce high-quality deliverables.
