An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Manager with a strong civil engineering background to join a leading national contractor delivering projects across Inverness and the wider Highlands.
With a significant and established pipeline of work in the region, our client is looking to strengthen its operational team with the appointment of a capable Site Manager who can take responsibility for the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of civil engineering projects.
This would suit an experienced Site Manager from a civil engineering, infrastructure, groundworks or utilities background who enjoys taking ownership of projects and wants to develop their career within a major UK contractor.
The Role
Working as part of an established project team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of site operations, including:
- Managing civil engineering works from mobilisation through to completion
- Coordinating direct labour, subcontractors, plant and materials
- Managing site activities against programme and project milestones
- Ensuring works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and client requirements
- Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance
- Reviewing RAMS and ensuring appropriate safe systems of work are implemented
- Managing site inductions, briefings and toolbox talks
- Monitoring progress, productivity and quality across site
- Identifying and resolving operational issues to maintain programme
- Liaising closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, clients and subcontractors
- Maintaining accurate site records and producing progress reports
- Supporting commercial and project teams with variations and changes to scope
- Driving a positive safety culture and maintaining high standards of site presentation and organisation
About You
We are looking for someone with proven experience delivering civil engineering works and the confidence to manage projects within the standards and processes expected of a major contractor.
You will ideally have:
- Previous Site Manager experience within civil engineering or infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, concrete, roads, utilities and/or general infrastructure works
- Experience managing subcontractors and site teams
- Good understanding of construction programmes and sequencing
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and site management procedures
- Excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills
- A practical approach to problem solving and project delivery
- Full UK driving licence
- SMSTS
- First Aid at Work
Relevant construction or civil engineering qualifications would be advantageous.
