We seek an intellectually curious candidate with proven quantitative capabilities, excellent communication and analytical skills, and an ability to formulate and present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner. The selected candidate will have a strong interest in radio communications and satellite engineering, and will be responsible for managing relationships with some of the largest ICT companies in the world.
Space & Connectivity Practice
The Space & Connectivity Practice engages in technical intergovernmental and industry fora on a global level, representing client interests and effecting change in satellite and telecom regulation. We perform radio compatibility studies, regulatory analyses and network coordination, in support of planned and operational networks. We also effect change in regulation and standards, to reflect novel approaches and ensure network innovation is not constrained by outdated rules.
We are seeking recent graduates or professionals with 2–3 years of experience in roles such as Spectrum Engineer, RF Engineer, Radio Frequency Engineer, Regulatory Engineer, RF Compatibility Engineer, Satellite Engineer, or Junior to Senior Engineering positions.
What you’ll do
- Prepare ITU satellite filings for new and amended GSO satellite networks
- Prepare ITU satellite filings for new and amended non-GSO satellite systems
- Monitor and review ITU/BR weekly circulars (IFICs), and prepare responses to be sent through the notifying administration
- Carry out compatibility studies between satellite networks (GSO/GSO; GSO/non-GSO; non-GSO/non-GSO), analyse results and prepare case‑by‑case reports
- Carry out sharing and compatibility studies between services within existing allocations and potential new services considered by WRC agenda items of interest to the clients
- Develop coordination proposals within the framework of the ITU Radio Regulations, and participate in negotiations with operators/administrations to reach coordination agreements
- Prepare draft coordination agreements under the ITU framework, considering the results of the compatibility studies conducted through Visualyse software and other tools as well as the relevant ITU RR provisions
- Liaise with clients and team members to report progress and review priorities
- Research technical regulations and standards, and develop strategies for effecting change through national, regional, and global fora
- Undertake competitive intelligence gathering on the satellite industry
What you’ll need
Essential
- Quantitative background
- Deep understanding of radio spectrum and its uses by satellite and other radio systems
- Deep understanding of the ITU Radio Regulations
- A demonstrable interest in the technology industry
- Excellent written and oral English language skills
Desirable
- Fluency in a second language
- Advanced skills in Visualyse software
- Basic to intermediate skills in Sat‑Coord software
- Proficiency in MATLAB software
